All abouts cat’s senses

There are billions of people around the world, who love to have pets around them, and some have rather unique choices for pets but the most common animals people want to have at their houses are dogs and cats. It’s a saying that dogs are very trusted friends but when it comes to cats they are so cute that people just die to have them around. They love their attractive activities and the way they play.

Cats have different characteristics and each one of them has different varieties. If we look at their languages, they have these in numbers. They growl, purr, grunt, trill or mew.  They have cat pheromones and a number of body languages as well.

Cats have similar anatomy as other felids. They have strong body parts such as sharp teeth which cannot just eat but they can kill to and retractable claws and a flexible body.

They have amazing senses with different purposes. They can hear sound from every direction with their outer ear flap which takes these sounds to their ear canal to the eardrum, after some process this sound go to their brain which tell cats to react on it. Their hearing sense is minimum 20 hertz and maximum up to 65,000 hertz. They react to high pitched voices more than low pitched voices. Their ears also let them to control their balance

Their eye structure is feline which has lens, retina, cornea tapetum lucidum and iris.  A layer of mirror like cells to reflect small amount of light, which let them to see is called tapetum lucidum. That is why they need less light than humans to see but it is also a fact that they cannot see in total dark at all. Haw is a third eyelid in their eyes to protect their eyes and their pupil is 3 time more sensitive than man’s.  

Cats use their sense of smell to find out the space to make their home. They also check the safety of the food through smelling it. They smelling sense is fourteen times more sensitive because of 200 million nerve cells present in their nose.

They have fewer taste buds than human which are 475 but to cover that up they have papillae which helps them to rub meat bones and hold their prey. Their taste receptor like high protein and high fat food.

Cats have very thick hairs rooted tree times deep in their skins. They can feel slightest change around them. Cats judge from their whiskers, if they will be able to fit in any gap or not.  They have these whiskers at the back of their paws too, and can detect a slightest touch.

Cats remain lively both at night or day but they get more active at nights. A greater human activity occurs at that time in cats. Cats have very sensitive tails. They attack you very severely if you touch their tail even by mistake.
